The first production of the Musical Comedy Guild of Sault Ste. Marie in 1963 H.M.S. Pinafore
The Musical Comedy Guild was founded in June 1962, with its first Executive Committee elected in September of that year. Under the leadership of President Mary Jamieson and music director Frank Elliot, the Guild debuted its first season in 1963 with two productions: the spring show “H.M.S. Pinafore” and the fall show “The Mikado.” Initially, all performances were held at the Clayton Auditorium in Sault Collegiate High School.
Over the following decades, the Guild performed at various venues. Since 1991, however, all main stage productions have found a permanent home at the White Pines Community Theatre Centre, where we continue to bring the magic of musical theatre to life for the Sault Ste. Marie community.
